A proposal to change the zoning to allow a recycling centre be constructed at the Bunree Industrial Estate was unanimously rejected earlier this week by members of the Ballina Municipal District at their monthly meeting. Connacht Enviro Containers had applied for permission to construct a commercial unit for sorting recyclable materials at the Bunree Industrial Estate.

The progress currently being made in relation to getting the Cloongullane Bridge project running is a very positive sign for the future of getting a major improvement on the N26 the elected members of Ballina Municipal District were told this week.

The Junior School Warden scheme has been operating in Ireland since 1969. School choirs from all over Ireland will perform in the SCCUL Schools Choral Competition on Friday May 6. The competition which is hosted by GMIT will see choirs from Dublin, Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and Galway compete at Primary and Post- Primary level.
